algoseek API Terms of Service | algoseek Datasets API

This page provides the algoseek Terms of Service for the use of the algoseek Datasets API.

Last Updated: April 7, 2026Add

Welcome to the algoseek RESTful API service ("API"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your technical access to and use of our API endpoints and infrastructure. By accessing or using the API, you ("Licensee," "you," or "Developer") agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Summary#

We want you to build amazing things using our infrastructure. Keep your API keys secure, respect our rate limits, and do not attempt to reverse engineer our endpoints. Please note that your rights regarding the data retrieved from this API are governed separately.

2. Data License Agreement#

These Terms govern your use of the API infrastructure. Your rights to store, manipulate, display, or redistribute the financial data retrieved from the API are exclusively governed by your algoseek Data License Agreement. By using the API, you agree to comply fully with your applicable Data License tier.

3. Technical Restrictions and Prohibited Actions#

To protect our API infrastructure, you agree NOT to:

  • Reverse Engineer: Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or extract the source code, logic, or methodologies behind the API.

  • Scrape or Bypass Limits: Access the API through automated scraping outside of the documented endpoints, or attempt to circumvent API key authentication or rate limits.

  • Share Credentials: Share your API keys or Bearer tokens with unauthorized users, external developers, or across disparate organizations.

4. Infrastructure Protection and Fair Use#

To ensure high availability for all clients, the API enforces strict technical rate limits (e.g., requests per minute) detailed in your subscription tier and the x-ratelimit headers.

Fair Use: Even within technical rate limits, algoseek prohibits abusive polling (e.g., aggressively querying /api/v1/status or rapidly requesting massive payloads in a way that degrades system performance).

Enforcement: We reserve the right to throttle, pause, or suspend your API access immediately if your usage patterns threaten our infrastructure stability.

5. Temporary Caching#

You may temporarily cache API responses within your application specifically to improve application performance, reduce server load, and comply with rate limits. Note that long-term data retention and permanent database building are subject to the restrictions outlined in your Data License Agreement.

6. Versioning, Changes, and Deprecation#

APIs evolve. We strive to make transitions as smooth as possible:

  • Notice of Changes: We will provide at least thirty (30) days advance notice via email or our developer portal before deprecating a major endpoint (e.g., moving from /api/v1/ to /api/v2/) or making backward-incompatible structural changes.

  • Security Updates: Critical security patches or infrastructure changes may be deployed immediately without prior notice. You are responsible for ensuring your application is updated to support the current API version.

7. Privacy and Data Security#

If your application passes any end-user data to algoseek (e.g., via IP logs or support requests), it will be handled according to our standard Privacy Policy. You represent that you maintain your own legally compliant privacy policy for the users of your application.

8. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability#

  • "As-Is" Provision: THE API INFRASTRUCTURE IS PROVIDED "AS IS." ALGOSEEK DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING TIMELINESS, UPTIME, AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

  • No Trading Advice: Algoseek accepts no liability for any trading losses, missed opportunities, or business interruptions resulting from API downtime, delayed endpoints, or connectivity issues.

  • Exchange Fees: As detailed in your Data License, your use of the API may subject you to third-party financial exchange rules and fees, for which you bear sole responsibility.

  • Limitation of Liability: In no event shall algoseek be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages. Our maximum liability to you under these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for API access in the three (3) months preceding the claim.

  • Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold algoseek harmless against any third-party claims resulting from your breach of these Terms or your Data License Agreement.

9. Termination#

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your API access immediately upon any violation of these Terms, with specific regard to the restrictions outlined in Sections 3 and 4. Upon termination, all rights to access and use the API will be permanently revoked.
